Browns’ Rodney McLeod wants to intercept two specific quarterbacks before he retires following 2024 season

One member of the Cleveland Browns has already made it known that 2024 will be his last season in the NFL and he has plans to make things tough for a short time for a couple of opposing quarterbacks this coming season.

Safety Rodney McLeod will suit up for the Browns for his second season with the team this fall and when he does so he wants to pick off a couple of opposing quarterbacks specifically.

“I would say I probably need one from my dog Jalen Hurts. It would be nice within the division to get one off of Lamar Jackson too,” McLeod said on a recent airing of the Up & Adams Show.

McLeod will get two chances to take care of that task against Jackson in the AFC North matchups between the Browns and Baltimore Ravens. Cleveland will host the Ravens in Week 8, then in Week 18 they’ll travel to Baltimore in what could be a huge game in the final week of the regular season. If McLeod wants to pick off Jackson, perhaps Week 18 would be the best time for it.

Cleveland will play the Eagles in Philadelphia in Week 6 on Oct. 13. It’ll be a game in a tough environment against a team that has plans of competing for a Super Bowl out of the NFC. McLeod spent six seasons playing with the Eagles spanning from 2016 until 2021. That is the spot that he had past familiarity with Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, the likely reason the Browns looked to sign him last offseason.

McLeod has intercepted 18 passes in the NFL over the 11 seasons that he has played in the NFL. Last season, McLeod had his season cut short after a torn pectoral only allowed him to play in 10 games and he did not record an interception.

We now know which quarterbacks McLeod wants to force a turnover from specifically in his last go-around in the league. It would make it that much more special if it came on a play that helps the Browns win the game, but that may be just a bit of storywriting.

Cleveland uses three safeties a ton and McLeod is surely going to have every opportunity to accomplish this task in 2024.
