The Cleveland Browns had a whirlwind NFL Draft this year, particularly in the third and fifth rounds, where they selected quarterbacks.
While Colorado's Shedeur Sanders was experiencing a historic slide in the selection show, Oregon's Dillon Gabriel knew exactly where he was going.
Gabriel's premonition was shared on Browns social media before the drart.
The former Oregon Ducks quarterback was at his home in Hawaii showing off his bird calls on video when one seemingly responded to him. Someone with him asked what the bird said, and Gabriel's answer is now shocking.
"Cleveland Browns, 94. That's what he said, Cleveland Browns," said Gabriel in his translation of the birds.
That was on Wednesday, the day before the NFL Draft from Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Two days later, Gabriel heard his name from the commissioner's podium with the 94th overall pick in the third round ... by the Cleveland Browns. The bird was right.
The Browns were ecstatic to get Gabriel, a player who many said is too small for the NFL. That's not how general manager Andrew Berry sees him, though.
"The biggest negative that you can say about him is he doesn't have ideal height, but that's not something that we felt showed up in his game," Berry said.
Gabriel's six seasons in college offers much more experience than most rookies coming into the league, and he's fighting for a roster spot against two veterans in Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, and fellow draft pick, Shedeur Sanders.
All accounts indicate, early in the process, that Gabriel is impressing as we approach mandatory minicamp.
