The Cleveland Browns are mired in a disappointing 2-8 season where little has gone right. Meanwhile, their next opponent, the 8-2 Pittsburgh Steelers, are coming off an impressive 18-16 Week 11 win over the division rival Baltimore Ravens.
While the Browns prepare for the Steelers in Week 12, former Pittsburgh Steelers Ben Roethlisberger is having some fun at the expense of Cleveland.
Roethlisberger recently discussed the Steelers' victory over the Ravens on his Footbahlin podcast, indicating the Ravens deserve all the respect and preparation. But he may not necessarily feel the same about Pittsburgh's next opponent.
"You still have to," Roethlisberger said. "You're still going into it. It's not like you're playing Cleveland, right? ... Did I say that out loud?"
There may be more to the story here. The former Steelers signal-caller might still be butt hurt about not being taken by the Browns - his local team growing up - in the 2004 NFL Draft.
The Browns, who even needed a quarterback at the time, went another direction at No. 6 overall and took Miami's Kellen Winslow II at tight end.
Roethlisberger fell to the Steelers at No. 11 as the third quarterback taken behind Eli Manning and Philip Rivers, where he won two Super Bowls and was named to six Pro Bowls during his career.
Whatever the motives, Roethlisberger took a well-deserved brutal jab at the Browns.
The Browns and Steelers match up this week on Thursday Night Football at 8:15 p.m. ET.
