After a massive slide from the first round all the way to the fifth, the Cleveland Browns selected Colorado star Shedeur Sanders with the 144th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
And he is reportedly already impressing in OTAs.
Browns color commentator Nathan Zegura appeared on a recent episode of the "Maggie and Perloff Show", and he is singing the early praises of the 23-year-old quarterback.
"Shedeur's looked good... His ball placement is elite," Zegura said. "His ability to layer throws is elite. I think he's got plenty of arm strength, we've seen that on display, certainly in camp at times. There is something about Shedeur, I got a chance to interview him, very confident, but not in a cocky way. Has a lot of belief in himself. I like him. I like the kid a lot."
“Elite” seems like a terribly strong word here. But …
The Browns had practice this past Wednesday, and Sanders threw three touchdowns without an interception.
At the same time he is presently essentially the fourth-string QB here.
The former Colorado superstar finished his final season in college with 4,134 passing yards and 37 touchdowns on 74 percent completion, all of which led the Big 12 Conference. These stats show that he can get the job done, no matter how many people doubt him.
There are many people that feel strongly one way or another about Sanders, so he should be glad that he has someone like Zegura in his corner this early in his rookie season. He will be looking to prove the haters wrong when the Browns give him the opportunity.
