After signing an eight-year, $66 million contract on Sunday, Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman will make his season debut on Thursday against the visiting Montreal Canadiens.

Swayman missed all of training camp and the preseason while his agent and the Bruins negotiated a new deal. Backup Joonas Korpisalo started the season opener at the Florida Panthers, a 6-4 Bruins loss on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old Swayman posted a 25-10-8 record with a 2.53 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage in 2023-24 while playing on a one-year, $3.475 million contract awarded by an independent arbitrator.

Swayman has a 79-33-15 record, a .919 save percentage and a 2.34 goals-against average in parts of four seasons with Boston. He and Linus Ullmark, who was traded to the Ottawa Senators in the offseason, shared the William M. Jennings Trophy in 2022-23 after they combined to give Boston the fewest goals allowed in the NHL.

Swayman was 6-6 in 12 playoff starts last season with a .933 save percentage and 2.15 GAA.
