Bruins’ Marco Sturm Reveals Leadership’s Feelings On Past Season

'They are not happy how things ended'.

While new head coach Marco Sturm was just introduced in Boston, the Bruins leadership has already let him know their feelings on the current state of the team.

New Bruins coach Marco Sturm has seen the passion of Boston fans - from both sides

Sturm said he has talked to almost everyone on the current roster but more specifically everyone in the leadership group. After finishing last place in the Atlantic Division with a 33-39-10 record and missing the playoffs, the leadership group expressed an unhappiness with the Bruins past season.

“I think (the leadership group) is very eager to get things going,” Sturm told the “Energy Line with Nate and JSB” podcast. “They are not happy how things ended.”

The Bruins are currently without a captain, something the head coach said he will worry about later. Despite no one wearing a “C” on their chest, guys like David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy have been seen as leaders for the Bruins.

Pastrnak and McAvoy played under former captains Patrice Bergeron and Zdeno Chara. With the example past captains have set, Sturm is confident in what the leadership group can being into next season.

“That showed me already, just by talking to them, and I just talked to Charlie McAvoy who was in my office, that these guys I can tell already got it in them because they played with the Charas, the Bergerons so they passed that torch,” Sturm said.

There are still a lot of uncertainties heading into the season about how the Boston roster will pan out. The Bruins front office will need to fill holes on offense, something Sturm said he knows will need to be fixed.

The team also will have a chance to address some needs at the 2025 NHL Draft which is coming up on June 27. The Bruins will pick at No. 7, giving them a chance to grab some high end talent.
