The Boston Bruins will be without this young forward for their season opener.
Earlier today (Oct. 7), Boston Bruins forward Matthew Poitras returned to practice in a non-contact jersey. This was certainly good to see, as the young forward has been dealing with an undisclosed injury since last week.
While Poitras seems to be making progress with his injury recovery, head coach Jim Montgomery has ruled the 2022 second-round pick out for the Bruins' first game of the regular season against the Florida Panthers tomorrow (Oct. 8). Montgomery also noted that Poitras is still deemed as being day-to-day.
Although Poitras returned to practice today, it is understandable that he is not playing tomorrow. He has yet to practice as a full participant since his latest injury, so he is not ready to return to game action.
It will now be interesting to see if Poitras will need to miss more games after the Bruins' season opener against the Panthers. Here's to hoping that he is good to go for the Bruins' second game of the year.
Here is the Bruins' full opening night roster for their matchup against Florida.
