Buccaneers’ Evans Gets High Praise From NFL GM: ‘Still a Beast’
Mike Evans is among the NFL’s elite when it comes to longevity and consistently performing at a high level, making him one of the top Tampa Bay Buccaneers players worth discussing.
With 11 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons under his belt, Evans has showcased remarkable consistency, tying the record held by NFL legend Jerry Rice.
Despite missing four games last season, Evans still managed 1,004 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns on 74 catches in just 14 games. This impressive performance earned him a No. 9 ranking among receivers, with an NFL general manager offering high praise for the veteran wideout in Jeremy Fowler’s rankings piece.
“If you’re trying to win one game or win on third down, you’re still picking him really high,” Via an NFL GM to ESPN. “He’ll decline eventually but I haven’t seen any signs of it. He’s still a beast.”
While Mike Evans’ production will inevitably decline, he defied expectations last season. With a talented receiving corps surrounding him, including Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillian, and rookie Emeka Egbuka, Evans may no longer be the primary target, potentially prolonging his elite play.
Even if his numbers dip, Evans’ proximity to the 1,000-yard mark will likely prompt Baker Mayfield and the coaching staff to go out of their way to help him reach the milestone.
As one of the top 10 receivers in the NFL after 11 seasons, Evans’ elite status seems unlikely to change anytime soon – at least not before the 2025 season.
