Buccaneers RB Wants a 'Dub' in the Creamsicle Uniforms

The NFL’s annual meetings are in the books, and all 32 teams including the Buccaneers are shifting their attention to the draft. As part of the annual ritual, proposed rule changes are voted on, with a growing number gaining approval as the game adapts to new trends and priorities.

Typically, rule changes focus on gameplay, but this offseason, a new rule was passed that affects the uniforms teams wear.

The NFL’s new uniform rule lets teams wear alternate jerseys up to four times per season, up from three. This means teams like the Buccaneers can rock their iconic “Creamsicle” jerseys more often – nearly a quarter of the season, to be exact. This change gives teams more flexibility to showcase their unique styles and throwback uniforms, which fans are sure to love.

The Buccaneers’ creamsicle throwbacks are among the league’s most stunning alternates, rivaling iconic sets like the Eagles’ “Kelly Green” and Broncos’ “Orange Crush” jerseys.

The Bucs have only worn their creamsicle jerseys once a season, despite fans wanting to see them more often. This might be due to a peculiar trend: the team tends to lose whenever they wear them.

The Buccaneers have lost both of their creamsicle jersey games over the past two seasons, falling to the Lions in 2023 and the Falcons in 2024. Running back Rachaad White recently acknowledged the team’s unlucky record in the jerseys, but expressed his love for them, suggesting the players have a soft spot for the iconic uniforms despite their struggles to win while wearing them.

Running Back Rachaad White was recently interviewed by Barstool Sports where he talked about the iconic uniforms.

“We love them too, we got to get a dub in them this year. We ain’t got a dub in them the past two years we wore them.”

The Buccaneers will likely wear their creamsicle jerseys again in 2025. It’ll be interesting to see if they’ll stick to their once-a-season tradition or wear them more often. Either way, fans love the iconic look, and the team will need to capitalize on the energy and swag they bring to secure wins.
