Offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs of the Tampa Buccaneers had the baseball crowd at Raymond James Stadium going Bananas, one could say. Savannah Bananas that is. Wirfs had the fans in a frenzy.

Buccaneers Tackle Causes Big Stir and Makes Baseball Crowd Go Bananas

It was the first baseball game in the history of Raymond James Stadium. The game was played at the home of the Buccaneers due to the fact the Tampa Bay Rays baseball stadium, Tropicana Field, was destroyed during Hurricane Milton.

He was the Bananas special guest at the game and it culminated a big week in Tampa. The Bucs signed some free agents and Wirfs restructured his contract to give the Buccaneers some more cap space.

Then the Bananas took the field, Wirfs was with them and the sold-out crowd of 65,000 fans witnessed Wirfs rip his shirt off and go topless. He was even portrayed on the Jumbotron baring his oversized chest and belly.

The Bananas, who are like the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball, created a lot of excitement for the fans and Wirfs simply added to the jubilee of the evening.

Wirfs is a quiet, shy guy, who rarely takes his shirt off in public. The last time he pulled off the trick was at the boat parade following the Tampa Bay Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020.

Wirfs will now look forward to watching the NFL Draft, offseason team activities and the start of training camp this summer. He and his Buccaneers teammates will look to avenge their wild-card round loss to the Washington Commanders last season.
