Ohanian was responding to a video of WNBA superstar Clark saying the celebrity she wanted to have dinner with was his wife, tennis legend Serena Williams.
Caitlin Clark and Serena Williams at the dinner table together? That unlikely meeting of two female sporting icons isn't as far-fetched as it might seem, after Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian invited Clark round for a meal.
Women's basketball star Clark had been answering some quick-fire questions in a Q&A when she was asked which one celebrity she would most like to have dinner with.
Barely skipping a beat to acknowledge the question, the Indiana Fever point guard name-checked fellow American Williams, the 23-time tennis Grand Slam winner.
A user of the social media platform X then tagged Ohanian, a co-founder of Reddit, in a post with the video embedded, bringing it to his attention – and he responded.
"C'mon now @CaitlinClark22 there's an open invitation at our home!"
Clark has previously met Williams. The latter served as host of the 2024 ESPY Awards, where Clark was nominated for Best Female Athlete and won the Best Female College Athlete and Best Record-Breaking Performance Awards.
Williams is also moving into the basketball sphere. She is a part-owner of the new WNBA expansion team Toronto Tempo, which will begin play in the 2026 season.
