The New Orleans Saints brought back pass rusher Cameron Jordan on a reworked deal for this season. Under new defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, he will have a new role for the Saints. It remains to be seen how that will affect his productivity.
Regardless, he's back in the media world making waves around social media.
Cam Jordan wants Jameis Winston back on Saints
In a recent interview with Kay Adams, veteran defensive lineman Cam Jordan pinpointed former Saints quarterback Jameis Winston as a potential acquisition he'd like to see the team make.
"There's Russell [Wilson] over there. They [Giants] got Jaxson Dart. My guy Jameis... come on down. It makes a lot of sense... Jameis as the veteran quarterback - come on over."
-- Cam Jordan
Winston is a fun idea on paper for New Orleans, but I'm unsure if it makes the most sense for Kellen Moore's offense and team build right now. New Orleans could use a veteran QB option, alongside Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough. No doubt about that.
Although, Winston is a beloved player in New Orleans and could cast extra pressure on the young QB to succeed due to fans pushing to see Winston back on the field again for the Saints.
Winston is an awesome personality, but he also holds a strong personality. Adding that to a first-year head coach's plate just before training camp or the season would be quite risky for Moore.
Never reached out to Aaron Rodgers
Cam Jordan also discussed the Aaron Rodgers offseason saga. He noted that he didn't make the call to Rodgers to see if he was interested in coming to the Saints, even though he does have Rodgers as a contact.
Rodgers didn't seem like a legitimate option for New Orleans, following Derek Carr's retirement. The Pittsburgh Steelers were also incredibly interested in him and ended up landing the former MVP.
Jordan is always fantastic content, even if sometimes he does make remarks that come back to bite him in the future. As always, he was entertaining in this latest appliance and gave some useful insight from the Saints.
