Cam Jurgens gifts Eagles fans with best news ever after signing his extension

"Life-changing"... That was just one of the ways Cam Jurgens described the adrenaline rush created by his brand-spanking-new extension signed just recently. The Philadelphia Eagles inked him to a four-year, $68 million deal with $39.4 million guaranteed. Yep! That sounds like a pay increase that will secure one's financial future.

Eagles, Cam Jurgens agree to four-year extension that reportedly makes him one of NFL's highest-paid centers - CBSSports.com

From a football standpoint, this also tells us three things about where Philly is currently and how they feel about their 2024 Pro Bowl center. One, 80% of the starting offensive line is signed for a few more years with the starting right guard position seemingly open for competition. Second, this may also tell us something about how Philly values Cam vs. how they value Jordan Davis.

The former UGA star has a fifth-year option built into his deal by being a 2022 first-round selection. Philly, however, extended Jurgens before exercising Jordan's option or signing Davis to an extension. Again, that could be telling. It certainly isn't something to ignore.

Cam Jurgens expects to fully recover from back issues , which is certainly good news for Eagles Nation.

We mentioned there were three takeaways from seeing Cam Jurgens ink his new extension. The third is this. We can probably assume his ongoing back issues from last season won't continue to be a concern moving forward.

Following the announcement of his extension, he spoke with select media members and offered some encouraging words about his confidence in a full recovery.

During the annual league meeting, it was determined that a decision about a potential 'Brotherly Shove' ban would be postponed. It sounds, however, like Cam isn't concerned about risking injury if Philly survived a ban and continued to using their patented 'Tush Push' moving forward.

As we know, this is a play that puts a ton of physical stress on the offense's center when run. Debate has raged about the play's level of safety, so hearing Jurgens express zero concern that this will put him in harm's way is music to our ears.

In other words, if he's confident this won't be an issue moving forward, that's good enough for us. Congratulations on that new deal, Cam! We can all rest easy knowing that the anchor of Philly's line will be a part of this organization for several years to come.
