Cam Ward agrees to do for Titans what he never did at 2025 NFL Combine, team will ‘listen to’ trade offers

The potential first overall pick has reversed his position for the Tennessee Titans from the NFL Combine, at least on this front.

Cam Ward is rounding the final turnpike of the awkward purgatory between college and the NFL. In four weeks, the quarterback will know which team he will be joining.

As one of the top NFL prospects, Cam Ward has been painted as one of the main stories of the 2025 NFL Draft. He could conceivably join the New York Giants or the Cleveland Browns. That said, he will need to get through the Tennessee Titans first.

The Titans have ping ponged back and forth between Shedeur Sanders and Ward since the end of the NFL season. The Tennessee Titans’ look toward April could conceivably have begun even earlier.

Of course, one of the luxuries of knowing that the Titans have the first pick and need a quarterback in the form of likely Ward or Sanders comes with less of a need to show their abilities. Both Ward and Sanders refused to throw at the 2025 NFL Combine, but Ward is waiving that right for an upcoming meeting.

Cam Ward agrees to demonstrate his throwing ability

According to NFL insider Adam Schefter on Twitter/X, Cam Ward will throw for the Tennessee Titans in a “private throwing session.” Here’s what Schefter posted on March 25.

He posted: “ESPN sources: Tennessee will hold an additional private workout with potential No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward. The Titans have become increasingly impressed with Ward and, while they are expected to listen to offers for the No. 1 overall pick, it now would take an even stronger package to acquire the draft’s top selection.”

“At this workout, Miami QB Cam Ward will go through a private throwing session for the Titans,” he added in a separate post.

Cam Ward refused to throw at the 2025 NFL Combine, but the potential for a trade might have pushed him to show his stuff for the Titans.

Potential teams willing to trade with Titans

The Titans have plenty of incentive to sit and wait for late April. However, if a trade package lucrative enough lands at their feet, it would be tough to decline. That said, it would take an all-in team with a desperate need at the position to potentially trade with multiple first-round picks, multiple second-round picks, and perhaps a player.

The New York Giants sit as the team with the greatest need and also the cheapest price to move into the top spot. If the Titans were to trade back, they’d only miss out on one player aside from Cam Ward. They also have a glaring quarterback need, despite adding Jameis Winston earlier this offseason.

The Carolina Panthers sit at eighth overall, and while Bryce Young gave a couple of moments down the stretch, the team has yet to see a jump in the standings. If the Panthers are hungry to fix their quarterback position once and for all, adding Ward could be in the cards.

Also, at eighth overall, they are conceivably in range without taking out the draft equivalent of a mortgage for the quarterback.
