The Tennessee Titans may have tried to play things close to the vest in their pre-draft buildup, but it seems as though when the 2025 NFL Draft rolls around, they will use the No. 1 overall pick to reboot the franchise and select Miami quarterback Cam Ward.
After Tennessee seemingly dabbled with the idea of drafting Colorado's Travis Hunter or Penn State's Abdul Carter, Ward has become such a runaway favorite for the No. 1 pick that he isn't even trying to hide the fact that he is already house-hunting in Nashville.
In a live stream, Ward claimed that Titans star Calvin Ridley is the best wide receiver in the league when asked to rank his best players at the position. Struggling former first-round pick Treylon Burks came in fourth place, trailing only Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr Chase. Even Treylon Burks' mother wouldn't rank him that high.
Ward didn't stop there. He also claimed that Ridley was better than former Titans star AJ Brown, declared both Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears two of his top four running backs, and declared Brian Callahan (he of a 3-14 record) the best coach in the NFL. It doesn't take a master tea leaf reader to see Ward is coming to Tennessee.
Cam Ward praising Titans hints at eventual No. 1 overall selection
After Will Levis' roller-coaster play led to a 3-14 season in Tennessee, it only makes sense that a new GM in Mike Borgonzi would want to get rid of as many Ran Carthon players as possible and land "his guy" to build around.
With five years of starting experience in college, a strong arm that will help him push the ball down the field in the pros, and accuracy when kept clean in the pocket, Ward has all the hallmarks of a player who should be able to carve out a long career in the pros.
With those skill positions players Ward holds in such high regard and a very strong offensive line that has a ton of money and draft capital invested in it, the Titans have created a very enticing situation for a rookie to walk into, assuming that Ward will start right away.
After Ward essentially tipped his hand at where he's going by praising what the Titans had on offer, it looks like the NFL Draft may start at No. 2 overall with Tennessee's pick seemingly out there in the open.
