Defensive end Cameron Jordan is one of the greatest players in New Orleans Saints franchise history.
Drafted with the 24th choice in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Cal, Jordan has played all of his 14 NFL seasons in New Orleans. In that time, he's not only become one of the most iconic performers in franchise history but also a positive influence and fixture in the New Orleans community.
There was recent confirmation that Jordan would be returning for his 15th season (really, there should have been no legitimate doubt). In doing so, Jordan has put himself on the verge of yet another franchise record.
With just three games played in 2025, Cam Jordan will surpass quarterback Drew Brees for the most games played with the New Orleans Saints. Brees played in 228 games for New Orleans from 2006 to 2020. Jordan has played in 226 games since 2011.
The next closest on that list is Hall of Fame and Dome Patrol linebacker Rickey Jackson, who played in 195 games as a Saint between 1981 and 1993. After him is P Thomas Morstead with 190 games between 2009 and 2020 and DE Frank Warren with 189 outings between 1981 and 1994.
An iron man throughout his career, Cam Jordan did not miss a single game between 2011 and the stretch run of the 2021 season. That was a string of 172 straight regular season games and 11 additional playoff outings, which included 167 consecutive starts.
Even more impressive was the fact that until the 2024-25 season, Jordan was an every down player. He'd never played less than 770 defensive snaps in a season before last year and had at least 830 snaps in 10 of his first 11 NFL seasons. In each of his first 13 seasons, Jordan was in on at least 70% of the Saints defensive snaps.
Only Von Miller, also drafted in 2011, has more than Jordan's 121.5 sacks among active players. Jordan's 121.5 official sacks rank 27th in NFL history. That number also ranks first in New Orleans Saints franchise history, just ahead of 115 official sacks by Rickey Jackson.
Jackson also had 8 sacks during his rookie season in 1981, the year before the NFL officially started tracking this statistic. Jackson's 123 ''unofficial'' sacks as a Saint sit just ahead of Jordan's 121.5. This is yet another number that Cam Jordan will almost certainly take over in his legendary New Orleans Saints career.
