The Tampa Bay Buccaneers gave a good account of themselves in their 30-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, and quarterback Baker Mayfield did all he could to win the game for his team.
Perhaps Baker's best moment of the game came late in the fourth quarter.
Needing a touchdown to tie the game at a rain-soaked Arrowhead Stadium, Mayfield led a 12-play, 81-yard drive that ended with a Ryan Miller touchdown.
Baker would complete five of his six passes for 67 yards against a stout Chiefs defense, and offensive coordinator Liam Coen was full of praise for his quarterback's clutch efforts.
"Big-time drive, we've struggled in some of those situations we haven't executed maybe all the way down," Coen said. "The way he did, in a critical moment in that environment, in that weather, to go down there and execute at a super high level and the guys making plays, really proud of Baker."
While most of the attention post-game was on the Buccaneers not going for a two-point conversion to win the game, Mayfield's efforts on that final drive can't be overlooked.
After a Pro Bowl season last year, many doubted whether Mayfield could back it up, and while he hasn't been "Pro Bowl-caliber" this season, he has still played to a high level.
His drive against the Chiefs is evidence of that, and maybe it would have been highlighted more had the Bucs gone for two and won, but Baker did his best to put his team in a position to win.
The overtime rules are what they are, and given how well Baker played on that final drive, it would have been interesting had the Bucs offense gotten the ball to respond to Patrick Mahomes' touchdown.
