He's projected to go late in the first round, and would ultimately be a solid pickup on the depth chart for D.C. as a player who never gives up on any puck and can make things happen from just about anywhere on the ice. Washington also likes high-character leaders, and Gästrin certainly fits the bill there.
Bill Zonnon A Promising Playmaker & Late First-Round Gem
The Washington Capitals are looking at all options when it comes to approaching the 2025 NHL Draft, and with the 27th overall pick, they have a number of impressive prsopects to choose from.
Among them is QMJHL winger Bill Zonnon, who is ranked No. 31 among all North American skaters and also led all prospects at the NHL Draft Combine with 16 consecutive pull-ups.
He's projected to go later in the first round, but as was seen with Terik Parascak, could go earlier as a hidden gem.
Zonnon has continued to fine tune his game and has stood out as a remarkable playmaker who can also put the puck in the net. He's known for making smart plays on the fly and can drive play in all three zones, while also pulling off creative entries and going hard on the forecheck.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound forward is also fast and strong and doesn't shy away from being physical, and he takes good care of the puck and can work wonders on the ice. His biggest asset, though, is how hard he works and how he never gives up on the play.
Zonnon has been in the QMJHL for the last three seasons, playing for the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. He's built on his numbers and has only improved with time, going from 39 points in his rookie year to 58 in his sophomore season. This past year, playing as a full-time center for the first time, he had a career-high 28 goals and 55 assists for 83 points, putting him in a tie for seventh in league scoring.
The 18-year-old is a promising power forward and two-way player who's versatile, can play multiple roles and generate numerous chances per game, and is certainly someone who should be on D.C.'s radar.
