Terik Parascak will throw on a Team Canada sweater at next week’s 2025 World Junior Showcase in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Parascak was among 44 players that Hockey Canada invited to play at Ridder Arena from July 27 to August 2. The showcase will include practices and games against teams of prospects from the USA, Sweden, and Finland.
The attending Canadian skaters will initially be split into two teams, Canada Red and Canada White, before combining into one team for their final three games.
Parascak is the only Capitals representative on the roster, as Washington’s 2025 first-round draft pick, Lynden Lakovic, was not selected. Lakovic reportedly was set to receive an invitation but was not listed on the roster.
The 19-year-old Parascak has yet to represent his country at any level and was not included on Canada’s roster at last year’s showcase despite posting 105 points (43g, 62a) in 68 games for the WHL’s Prince George Cougars. He followed that effort up with 82 points (28g, 54a) in 59 games for the Cougars this past year.
After his second full season with Prince George, the Capitals reassigned Parascak to the AHL’s Hershey Bears on April 13 to conclude his year. Then-head coach Todd Nelson gave him his AHL debut in Hershey’s final game of the regular season on April 19 — a 4-3 loss to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
Parascak finished the year as a black ace during Hershey’s playoff run, gaining more pro experience. He then attended his second Capitals development camp earlier this month and will likely head back to Prince George in the fall after training camp.
Canada’s first game at the showcase is an intrasquad scrimmage on Tuesday. Former Capitals head coach Dale Hunter was recently named head coach of the nation’s 2026 World Juniors team.
