New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs has been a member of the six-time Super Bowl franchise for a little more than three months. He has reportedly been dating rap superstar Cardi B for a mere five months longer than that. But already, the high-powered NFL-music industry couple are being forced to deal with a series of online rumors, most of them not very nice, and even outright malicious.
First, earlier this week, it was Cardi B, the 32-year-old hip hop artist who has scored more Billboard hits than any other woman in rap, who took to her social media accounts to clap back at rumors that she had broken up with Diggs, a 31-year-old, 10-year NFL veteran.
When some sharp-eyed fans noticed that the rapper, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, had deleted some of her Instagram posts about her relationship with Diggs, the rumors began to go viral online claiming that the pair was calling it quits.

Diggs and Cardi B first went public with their long-rumored relationship on May 12 when they walked hand-in-hand into New York City’s Madison Square Garden and took courtside seats at an NBA playoff game between the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics.

They are apparently still an item, because when the rumors of their split gained steam online, Cardi B took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to tell the rumor mongers, in no uncertain terms, to “shut the f*** up.”
On Wednesday it was Diggs’ turn to take on the gossip-mavens, but this time the rumor went beyond simply claiming that he had broken up with Cardi B — who is currently in the midst of an acrimonious divorce from husband of eight years, 33-year-old rapper Kiari Kendrell Cephus better known as Offset.
Latest Rumor About Cardi B a Nasty One
The latest rumor claimed to give a reason for the breakup, asserting — falsely, according to Diggs — that he dumped the hip hop superstar over the nasty odor caused by her “BBL,” that is, Brazilian Butt Lift — a cosmetic surgery procedure that “increases the size and shape of your butt while removing fat from other areas of your body,” according to the Cleveland Clinic, which reports that more than 28,000 BBL procedures are performed annually.
Cardfi B has openly acknowledged undergoing the procedure as well an several other cosmetic operations.
But the procedure has, according to medical reports, at least one unpleasant side effect — a bad smell described as “musty or slightly sour.”
Diggs, the online rumor alleged, described the smell from Cardi B’s Brazilian Butt Lift procedure as “like a trash bag in July.”
But that never happened, at least according to a one-word message from Diggs posted on Instagram Wednesday. The one word was “Cap.”
For those unfamiliar “cap” is a popular Generation Alpha slang term for “lie.” Of course, with his birth year of 1993, Diggs would actually be classified as a member of the “Millennial” generation.
Gen Alpha is generally defined as the segment of he population born between the years of 2010 and 2024, or under some definitions even 2025.
But due to the internet, many Gen Alpha slang terms such as “cap” or its variant “no cap” — meaning “truth” or “no lie” and often represented by a blue baseball cap emoji — have gained widespread use across several generations.
