CeeDee Lamb could pass legendary Dallas Cowboys receiver on all-time list in 2025, with George Pickens’ support

CeeDee Lamb has been phenomenal for the Dallas Cowboys since he was drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft. He’s been one of the highest volume receivers in the league for multiple years now, and is on pace to surpass one legendary Cowboys receiver in 2025.

While CeeDee Lamb might have a long way to go to catch Michael Irvin and Jason Witten at the very top of the Dallas Cowboys receiving leaderboard, he is close to cracking the top five.

The former Oklahoma Sooners star wanted to wear the #10 when he arrived in Dallas, but Jerry Jones was adamant that the first-rounder was going to be the next great Cowboy to wear the traditional #88.

The number has been worn by many Dallas Cowboys greats, originally made famous by Drew Pearson in the 1970s.

The number was then worn by both Michael Irvin and Dez Bryant, who have both been legendary pass catchers for the franchise.

Lamb recorded his first 1,000-yard season in his second season in the league, with 79 catches for 1,102 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He was still splitting targets with Amari Cooper at the time, but in 2022, he became a star in his own right.

Cooper was traded before the 2022 season, which saw CeeDee Lamb’s target volume increase dramatically. He had 107 catches that year for 1,359 receiving yards and nine TDs, but his best year was the 2023 season, and by quite some distance.

CeeDee Lamb was named a first-team All-Pro in 2023, having recorded career highs across the board. He caught 135 passes for 1,749 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns, leading the league in receptions.

Even with Dak Prescott going down in 2024, Lamb once again cleared 1,100 yards, and now in 2025, he’s poised to join the Cowboys’ very elite, sitting among the greatest names in franchise history.

Dez Bryant recorded 7,459 receiving yards and 73 touchdowns in his eight seasons with the Cowboys. His yardage puts him fifth on the all-time list, while he leads the franchise in touchdowns, just one ahead of tight end Jason Witten.

CeeDee Lamb is currently 1,120 receiving yards away from matching Bryant’s career yardage with the team, and could claim that fifth spot in the record books in the 2025 season.

When Dak is healthy, Lamb is one of the most effective wide receivers in the NFL. He could well hit that mark this year, and with the new additions in Dallas, it might be a little easier.

Pickens acquisition should aid Lamb’s potential in 2025

The Dallas Cowboys went out and made a major trade during the offseason, acquiring out-of-favor wide receiver George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers. They sent a third and a fifth-round pick in the deal, with Pickens entering the final season of his four-year rookie contract.

Despite a constant carousel of quarterbacks in Pittsburgh, Pickens has proven he’s capable of being a dominant outside receiver. That skillset should complement CeeDee Lamb extremely well, allowing him to freely move around, line up in the slot, and produce at the high target volume he has maintained in recent years.

The Cowboys have tried to pair Lamb with various receivers, including the likes of veterans Brandin Cooks and young talents in Jalen Tolbert. Pickens is the best playmaker he’s played alongside, and defenses are going to have to make a choice when covering the pair.

If Dak Prescott is healthy and the group of receivers gel together, Lamb might just reach the Cowboys’ all-time top five this season.
