CeeDee Lamb Struggles With Performance And Injury In Critical Divisonal Game

CeeDee Lamb and the Dallas Cowboys played in one of three games on the Thanksgiving Day slate in the NFL. The Cowboys managed to edge out a 27-20 win over divisional rival New York Giants, this win brings their divisional record on the year to 3-1. Although America’s team was successful on turkey day, their star receiver CeeDee had a rough outing.

In the two games prior to the Giants, Lamb had 10 catches in one and 8 in the other, being targeted 12 times in both weeks. Yesterday’s matchup was unusual for CeeDee, considering he leads the league in receptions, as he only recorded 2 catches on 6 total targets. As sure-handed as he is, Lamb had more than a couple of uncharacteristic drops throughout this game. If Dallas’s defense hadn’t pressured Drew Lock as well as they did, we might have seen a different result in the game.

CeeDee’s Injury

CeeDee Lamb had already injured his AC joint in his right shoulder prior to the match against the Giants; he reaggravated this injury yesterday in the third quarter. Even though he was visibly in pain, Lamb attempted to play through the damage he sustained. All it took was a couple of plays for him to recognize that finishing the game was not worth potentially making the injury worse. An X post by Dallas reporter Pat Doney shows Lamb jogging down the tunnel after the game, grimacing as if he’s still in pain.

Cowboy’s Future

The hopes of Dallas putting together a playoff push are unlikely, yet not impossible. It will surely be tough with a backup quarterback who is still adjusting and their star receiver CeeDee Lamb possibly restricted by injury. All things considered, it seems that Cooper Rush is beginning to piece things together with this offense. If the defense can perform well, the Cowboys might be able to snag a wild-card spot if the teams ahead of them in the standings slip up.
