The Sacramento Kings are in what some would call NBA purgatory.

They're not a bad enough team to bottom out in hopes of a rebuild, but they're also not good enough to truly contend in the Western Conference.

It remains to be seen which direction they go in the offseason. However, knowing the Kings' owner, Vivek Ranadive, he'll likely pursue another playoff berth.

The Boston Celtics suffered an unfortunate end to their season.

While it looked as though the New York Knicks were the better team and would likely win the series, things got much worse for the Celtics when Jayson Tatum went down with a ruptured Achilles.

With a new ownership group, it was already likely the Celtics were going to look to cut costs this offseason. But with the trade to Tatum, that just increases the likelihood of the Celtics making big changes.

That could prove to be beneficial to the Kings, who are looking to add a true point guard in the offseason.

In a piece for ClutchPoints.com, Brett Siegel highlights Sacramento as a possibility for Jrue Holiday.

"Jrue Holiday is a veteran player the Sacramento Kings have interest in, sources said," wrote Siegel. "Whether or not Holiday is made available in trade talks by Boston is the ultimate question.

"New GM Scott Perry has made it clear his team needs a true point guard, and he was always a fan of Holiday when he worked with the New York Knicks. Perry wanted to explore the possibility of adding Holiday in New York before he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in 2020, sources said. Sacramento enters the offseason with decisions needing to be made about DeMar DeRozan's immediate future."

It remains to be seen exactly what the Celtics would receive back in exchange for the world champion point guard. But, at this point, it might be more about getting under the apron than it is about returning assets.
