Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics defeated the Denver Nuggets Sunday, 110-103 at TD Garden. Brown was Boston's leading scorer with 22 points, however, three other Celtics starters also contributed at least 17 points.
The former No. 3 pick in the 2016 NBA draft out of UC Berkeley was questionable coming into the game with right knee soreness, an injury nagging him since before the All-Star break. The Celtics were already shorthanded due to Jrue Holiday (right-hand mallet finger) and Kristaps Porzingis (non-covid illness) being out, so Brown's decision to play was a major factor in Boston's ability to beat the 2023 NBA champions.
Despite the win and leading the team in scoring, Brown admitted after the game his injury was bothering him throughout the game.
"Jaylen Brown said his shots were short today because his knee was bothering him a bit, so he prioritized getting into the lane more," The Athletic's Jared Weiss reported in a post on X.
Brown also added, "It's been bothering me since before the break. It's something I'll take a look at."

Sounded like he intends to keep playing through it though.
The four-time All-Star has missed ten of the Celtics' 61 games this season. Brown seemingly expects to play through this knee injury, barring any setbacks. With Holiday's injury timeline uncertain, Boston may need to prioritize health with only 21 remaining regular season games.
After Sunday's win, the Celtics are now 43-18 on the season. Their next contest will come on Wednesday against a Portland Trail Blazers team that has been trending upward in recent weeks.
