Chiefs’ Andy Reid Opens Up About Losing Mecole Hardman To Packers

The Green Bay Packers started to address their need at wide receiver when they signed former Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman to a one-year contract.  While the signing isn’t expected to change the offense in a massive way, he will certainly allow for more flexibility on offense.

Andy Reid knows Mecole Hardman better than anyone else. As Reid’s draft pick in 2019, the speedster was brought back by the Kansas City Chiefs after being cut by the New York Jets. Hardman would go on to catch the game winning touchdown in Super Bowl LVIII.

Now Reid is explaining what Green Bay got with their new wide receiver:

During NFL Meetings in Florida, the Chiefs head coach was asked by ESPN’s reporter Rob Demovsky about how he thinks Hardman will play for the Green Bay Packers after signing a one-year deal. Hardman’s speed is the main weapon in his game.

“Yeah, they will find a role for him. Good kid, and fast,” Reid said. “He’ll do a nice job for them.”

“Oh yeah, he can still play, sure,” Reid added. “Absolutely.”

It is expected that Mecole Hardman will play some type of offensive role, especially while Christian Watson recovers from his ACL injury. However, Hardman’s main importance to the Packers lies in his ability to return kickoffs and punts.

That will allow both Jayden Reed and Keisean Nixon to play full time at their respective positions.
