One of the biggest moves the Kansas City Chiefs made during the offseason was trading cornerback L'Jarius Sneed to the Tennessee Titans.
In return, the Chiefs received Tennessee's 2025 third-round pick, and the two teams swapped 2024 seventh-round picks. Now that the regular season is over, we now know specifically which pick in the third round it will be.
With a 3-14 record, the Titans have secured the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants also finished 3-14, meaning the three teams will rotate who picks first in each round. Tennessee will pick pick third in the second round, and with the pick they acquired from the Titans, the Chiefs will pick second in the third round (66th overall).
Doug Analytics broke it down in a post on X:
So, to clearly reiterate, the pick that Kansas City is receiving from the Titans is No. 66 of the third round. That is a very good value, especially since not many expected Tennessee to finish with such a poor record in 2024. The Chiefs really had no choice but to trade Sneed given their salary cap limitations.
K.C. gave defensive tackle Chris Jones a huge five-year, $158.75 million contract not long after Sneed was traded. It was the right decision, as Jones is absolutely irreplaceable for the Chiefs' defense. K.C.'s secondary is definitely not as strong without Sneed, but is still in good hands with Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson - who is nearing a return from injury.
Sneed had a disappointing and injury-riddled first year for the Titans. He'll look to bounce back strong next season, and history says he likely will. In four years with the Chiefs, Sneed amassed 303 total tackles - 19 tackles for loss - 6.5 sacks, 10 interceptions, 40 passes defended, four forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries. He didn't allow a single touchdown in coverage during the 2023 NFL regular season, all while having played the most defensive snaps (991) of any player.
