Chiefs Critics Foolishly Wonder If Patrick Mahomes Has 'Peaked'

When talking about the greatest quarterbacks ever to play the game, Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes is up there in the conversation.

Chiefs Critics Foolishly Wonder If Patrick Mahomes Has 'Peaked'

In his eight years, Patrick has been a two-time MVP winner, a three-time Super Bowl champion, a three-time Super Bowl MVP, a six-time Pro Bowler, and a two-time All-Pro. Oh, and he's been to at least the AFC Championship game every season.

Just two years removed from his last MVP win, has the door been slammed shut on Patrick ever winning another? He's only 29, so we say no, but Bleacher Report, which makes a case for why Patrick won't win MVP in 2025, thinks otherwise.

"Mahomes' supporting cast isn't what it was, and he has thrown an AFC-low 25 interceptions while ranking below the league median in passer rating since the start of 2023," Bleacher Report writes. "It's possible the 29-year-old peaked a few years ago."

To count out Mahomes like that, to us, seems foolish. He is just 29 years old. Given how long we've seen quarterbacks play in the NFL, he still has potentially a decade left.

Yes, his last two seasons haven't been what we're used to, but last year, he was without Rashee Rice from Week 4 and didn't have Marquise Brown until Week 16, plus Travis Kelce had a down year.

If all three of those are healthy, plus Xavier Worthy and the offensive line, which is hopefully improved, Mahomes' stats should trend upward. Are we talking MVP level (5,250, 41 touchdowns, 12 interceptions in 2023 when he won)? Likely not, but he'll be in the conversation at least.
