Chiefs’ Harrison Butker Reveals Goal for 2025 NFL Season

It has been a long offseason for the Kansas City Chiefs. After coming up short in their quest for a third straight Super Bowl title, the team is focused on returning to the big game for a fourth consecutive year.

Last season ended in disappointment after a 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Now the Chiefs are locked in on redemption.

One of the most consistent players during Kansas City's run of success has been kicker Harrison Butker. The 29-year-old former Georgia Tech standout was a seventh-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in 2017 but never played a game for them. Just 13 days after being waived, the Chiefs picked him up, and he’s been their kicker ever since.

As the 2025 season approaches, Butker has made his intentions clear. In a lighthearted “2025 Roll Call” photo shared by the team, he was asked to write his goal for the upcoming season. His answer was simple: “win the Super Bowl.”

Butker already has three Super Bowl rings and was the NFL’s scoring leader in 2019. He made the PFWA All-Rookie team in 2017 and holds several NFL records.

He owns the record for the longest field goal made in a Super Bowl, a 57-yarder in Super Bowl LVIII. He also has the most career field goals in Super Bowl history with nine. His 38 field goals as a rookie in 2017 remain a single-season record for a first-year kicker.

In August 2024, Butker signed a four-year, $25.6 million contract extension. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury in practice and missed a month of the season. He returned in December but was rarely used, missing a field goal against Cleveland in his only attempt.

Butker was active for Super Bowl LIX against the Eagles but wasn’t called on for a field goal or extra point attempt.

Kansas City opens the 2025 regular season on September 5 in São Paulo, Brazil, against the Los Angeles Chargers.
