Chiefs HC Andy Reid provides brief injury update on two key players as 2025 NFL offseason workout program gets underway

As they've done since the COVID-19 pandemic, Kansas City is holding the first phase of the offseason workout program virtually. That means team meetings and other similar events will take place over Zoom. Most players are still off on their own for the next two weeks before Phase II of the offseason workout program begins.

Speaking to media members, Chiefs HC Andy Reid provided some insight into two of the team's injured offensive players. WR Rashee Rice and TE Jared Wiley ended the 2024 NFL season on injured reserve after suffering knee injuries early in the season.

"Yeah, I can't necessarily give you the (timeline)," Reid said. "They're doing well, that's taking place right now, but I can't tell you when they'll be back exactly here, but both of them bust their tail. They're running, which is good, and we'll just see how it goes going forward here. We don't have them here on the field right now with us, so we gotta see the football part of it as we go."

Rice, of course, suffered an LCL injury in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers. He's been keeping fans abreast of his rehab and recovery on social media, which seems to be going smoothly.

Reid previously stated that Rice was on track to be ready by training camp. It's unclear if anything has changed, but Reid is at least mindful of overcommitting until he gets Rice in the building and sees him in action.

Wiley suffered a season-ending ACL injury during practice in early November, which Reid described as a "freak" injury. This is the first real progress update we've heard on Wiley since then, outside of his showing up to Patrick Mahomes' offseason throwing sessions in Texas at the start of April.

He's obviously a big part of the team's future plans at the tight end position with Travis Kelce entering the final year of his contract. Hopefully, he can be ready at the onset of training camp just like Rice, given that their injuries occurred about a month apart.
