Chiefs Make Trade to Bolster Pass Rush

Despite what their 7-0 record says, the Kansas City Chiefs haven't been clicking on all cylinders this season.

With a long injury list that includes Isiah Pacheco, Rashee Rice, Marquise Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster, the offense is putting up only 24.3 points per game, which ranks 13th.

It's been further hampered by quarterback Patrick Mahomes' interceptions. In Sunday's win against the Las Vegas Raiders, Mahomes threw yet another interception, making it eight straight games in which Mahomes has been picked off and bringing his total to nine for the season.

The Chiefs' defense has done a superb job helping the offense out, and maybe the defense will do even more after a Monday trade that brings pass rusher Josh Uche to town from the New England Patriots.

KC gives the Patriots a 2026 sixth-round pick in exchange for Uche, 26, who was taken by the Patriots in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

With Mahomes having at least 12 interceptions every year since 2021, the fact that he already has nine in seven games is a rather troubling trend.

The Chiefs have had four wins by one score, and that is largely due to Mahomes making big plays when he needs to. He got help with a trade for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins last week. He gets help with a trade for defense this week.
