It's no secret that the Kansas City Chiefs have a ton of speed on offense.
That has been their m.o. for most of the Andy Reid era - from past players such as Jamaal Charles, Jeremy Maclin, Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins - to current players such as Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy, Mecole Hardman, Kadarius Toney and Isiah Pacheco.
Nobody utilizes speed better than coach Reid, whether it's with the deep ball, screen passes or scheming guys up to get in space and create after the catch. Despite being good enough to win the Super Bowl, the Chiefs' offense desperately missed having speed last season.
That shouldn't be a problem again in 2024 with the additions of Brown and Worthy. Even the addition of former rugby star turned running back Lous Rees-Zammit, although he's a longshot to make the active 53-man roster, would provide even more speed for the Chiefs' offense.
At the end of the day, however, there can only be one guy who claim the title of fastest player on the team. While we don't know for sure, Hollywood Brown, who Kansas City signed as a free agent this offseason, is claiming the title as of now.
He was being lighthearted, of course, but he did say as much while speaking with reporters at a local youth football camp on Saturday. As quickly as the words came out of his mouth, rookie Xavier Worthy came over with a friendly disagreement, following it up by complimenting Brown as a mentor.
At the end of the day, it's probably splitting hairs as to who is faster than who. Chiefs fans are certainly chomping at the bit to see both Brown and Worthy put their speed on display in the offense.
Reid will certainly have fun mixing up different personnel and formations featuring all his speedsters. On the flip side, opposing defensive coordinators aren't going to get much sleep while preparing for K.C.'s revamped "legion of zoom."
