Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco's Return Status Gets Major Update on Sunday

The Kansas City Chiefs will look to extend their undefeated streak to nine games when they take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday.

Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco to miss at least 6 weeks after surgery

The Chiefs will also aim for a franchise record with their 14th straight win dating to last season's playoffs. They tallied 13 consecutive victories during the 2019-2020 seasons.

The two-time defending champions, however, will face the Buccaneers without several key players, including wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and defensive end Michael Danna due to hamstring and pectoral injuries, respectively.

Also out of commission is running back Isiah Pacheco, who suffered a fractured fibula in Week 2. NFL insider Ian Rapoport, however, gave a positive update about the 25-year-old.

"Isiah Pacheco’s on IR (injured reserve) and he’s not going to play (against the Buccaneers) but help is on the way," said Rapoport. "My understanding is Pacheco, who suffered a fractured fibula, is expected to resume practice in two to three weeks.

"He’s targeting a late November return."

In his lone game this season, a win over the Cincinnati Bengals, Pacheco collected 45 rushing yards, two receptions and a touchdown.

The former Rutgers standout, who started 13 games last season, is an integral part of the Chiefs, helping them capture back-to-back Super Bowl titles in his first two seasons in the NFL.

The team is already without wide receivers Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown, who both suffered major injuries, although the latter could still return in the playoffs.

Despite their laundry list of injured players, Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes has remained unfazed, saying they have "accepted the challenge."
