Kansas City Chiefs receiver Mecole Hardman discussed his breakout performance against the San Francisco 49ers.
The Kansas City Chiefs stayed undefeated on Sunday, beating the San Francisco 49ers, 28-18.
While a lot of the discussions following the game have been about Kansas City's lack of receivers, especially after JuJu Smith-Schuster was already ruled out for Week 8, the Chiefs did have one strong performance from an unexpected player.
Veteran receiver Mecole Hardman, who is in his second stint with the Chiefs, finished the game with 55 scrimmage yards, 55 return yards and a touchdown in the win. His touchdown came on a jet sweep late in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
Overall, Hardman was a massive reason why Kansas City left San Francisco with the win despite an overall weak offensive performance.
After the game, Hardman spoke about the jet sweep play and his performance.
"I just wanted to make the most of the opportunities," said Hardman. "I think it's just something that comes naturally – jet sweep me on the edge and try to turn the corner and make a move... It's just a natural thing for me, but hopefully I can start getting those across the middle balls. I'm trying to make one man miss and take it to the house. I'm trying to develop that into the game but for right now, I want to just take advantage of what they give me."
With Smith-Schuster now expected to miss time and no receiver trade imminent for Kansas City, Hardman could see the field even more in the coming weeks.
