Chiefs Trade Pitch Replaces Rashee Rice With Five-Time Pro Bowl WR

The Kansas City Chiefs are headed back to the drawing board after receiving concerning news in Week 4. While the Chiefs were able to pick up a 17-10 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, star receiver Rashee Rice suffered an injury that could lead to long term struggles for Kansas City.

In the first quarter of the Chiefs' matchup against L.A., Rice went down with a leg injury and was carted off the field.

Following the game, multiple reports revealed that the worst case scenario could result in Rice missing ample time with a torn ACL. Rice will have an MRI on Monday to for a further evaluation of his injury.

Given the Chiefs' thin wide receiver room, trade scenarios for Kansas City started to emerge online after the game.

CBS Sports was one of the many publications to release trade targets for the Chiefs. They offered a list of potential targets that included Kendrick Bourne, Robert Woods and Amari Cooper.

Upon reviewing the list, Cooper seems to be the most intriguing candidate. The five-time Pro Bowler has been in the league since 2015 and has been one of the most consistent receivers in the game since his arrival.

Cooper is currently competing with the Cleveland Browns. He started his career with the Las Vegas Raiders and has since played for the Dallas Cowboys and Browns.

His most recent Pro Bowl selection came in 2023, where he produced 72 receptions and 1,250 yards, while hauling in five touchdowns.

According to CBS Sports, Cooper has already been linked as a potential trade piece for the Browns. He's set to become an NFL free agent in 2025, so Cleveland could benefit from moving the receiver in exchange for another asset.

Cooper's experience could bring tremendous help to a wide receiver room that substandard, to say the least. A few other names, aside from Rice, who have been involved in the Chiefs' passing game includes JuJu Smith-Schuster, Justin Watson, Xavier Worthy and Travis Kelce.

While CBS Sports never mentioned what the trade would cost Kansas City, the Chiefs would likely be able to get Cooper on a bargain deal since he'll soon be a free agent.
