Chiefs Urged to Sign Patrick Mahomes Nemesis Via Free Agency

The Kansas City Chiefs came up short in the Super Bowl this past season, so they could be looking to improve the weaker parts of their roster.

One of the areas that could use some work is their secondary, as they were in the bottom half of the league in terms of passing yards allowed this season. They gave up just under 220 passing yards per game, so they could add to their secondary in free agency.

Perhaps one of the most notable players that has still not been signed to a team just so happens to be someone who could help the Chiefs out, and that is former Atlanta Falcons safety Justin Simmons.

He signed with the NFC South team last offseason, but they have not made any moves to re-sign the veteran safety.

And the Chiefs could make the most of that.

Simmons - who became a star and a Patrick Mahomes nemesis in his days with the Denver Broncos -finished 2024 with 62 total tackles, with two of them being for a loss. He was also able to show his ball-hawk skills with two interceptions and seven passes defended.

The Chiefs lost safety Justin Reid to the New Orleans Saints in free agency earlier this offseason, so they could use someone to come in and fill the hole that he left behind.

If the reigning AFC champions decide to look to free agent to get some secondary help, then signing a veteran and former Pro Bowler like Simmons could be a very intriguing option for them to consider.
