L'Jarius Sneed is coming back to Arrowhead, and you can bet he's had this date circled from the moment the NFL revealed the 2025 regular-season schedule.
The Kansas City Chiefs didn't play the Tennessee Titans in 2024, and it's likely that Sneed wouldn't have been able to play anyway. But now that he's presumed healthy and ready to return to the field, he'll get the chance to play back in K.C. for the first time since he was traded away to Nashville.
The truth is that there likely won't be much at stake for Tennessee by the time Week 16 rolls around, but it will give Sneed a chance to show the Chiefs what they dealt away when they flipped him to the Titans for a future third-round pick.
In his second season in Tennessee, L'Jarius Sneed will finally have the chance to come back to Arrowhead.
At the time of the trade, the Chiefs had used the franchise tag on Sneed, a former fourth-round pick who has been an instant starter in the Chiefs secondary who grew into one of the game's most physical cornerbacks. Instead of signing him to a long-term contract extension, they decided to trust their draft-and-develop process and found a new suitor in Tennessee.
Sneed was one of the league’s best corners during his final season with the Chiefs in 2023. He allowed just one touchdown across 817 coverage snaps and held elite opposing receivers to middling numbers—including strong performances against Stefon Diggs, A.J. Brown, and Ja’Marr Chase.
Unfortunately, Sneed’s first season in Tennessee didn’t go as planned. He played in only five games before a quadriceps injury sidelined him. Still, assuming he’s healthy by Week 1, Chiefs Kingdom will get a proper reunion with one of the toughest defenders to come through Kansas City during the Mahomes era.
The Titans are hoping to field a much more competitive roster under new head coach Brian Callahan, and Sneed’s return will give the Chiefs wideouts — including Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice (if eligible) — a serious test.
Sneed will undoubtedly be welcomed with open arms by his former Chiefs teammates and the fans who cheered for him for four years. However, expect the veteran corner to come in with a bit of a chip on his shoulder, anxious to prove to those who knew him best that there's still plenty left in the tank.
