Christian McCaffrey, running back for the San Francisco 49ers, recently bid goodbye to the current season after an injury. McCaffrey injured his knee last Sunday in a game between the 49ers and the Buffalo Bills. The injury has officially ended the season for McCaffrey, who is a crucial part of the 49ers team.
The San Francisco 49ers are not exactly having the greatest season so far, with only five wins and seven defeats so far. Last week, the 49ers took on the Buffalo Bills and lost the game miserably with a final score of 35-10. In that game, San Francisco’s QB Brock Purdy went for 94 yards, completing 11 passes out of 18 attempts, while Jordan Mason rushed with 13 carries for 78 yards. McCaffrey went on to post on Instagram informing his fans about the injury.
“Football is the greatest game on the planet to me… It lifts you up and breaks you down and it can happen fast. It’s humbling in the best ways. You can do everything right and still fail.”
“This wasn’t my year; and sometimes when it rains, it pours. You can feel sorry for yourself and listen to the birds, or you can hold the line. I’m grateful for the support of everyone in my corner and promise I’ll work smarter and harder than ever to come back better from this.” McCaffrey posted on his Instagram.
While it is certain that Christian McCaffrey won’t return for the remainder of this season, San Francisco head coach, Kyle Shanahan has hope that the running back will return for the postseason; that is of course only if the 49ers make it to the postseason.
Christian McCaffrey Replaced By Isaac Guerendo After Knee Injury
Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers will look up to Isaac Guerendo to fill Christian McCaffrey’s shoes, after a knee injury ended the running back’s current season. Along with McCaffrey, Jordan Mason is also benched from the 49ers unit. Guerendo will be a fantastic addition to the struggling 49ers right now, with 42 carries for 246 yards, with a pair of scores this season.
The San Francisco 49ers need to re-strategize and soon for that matter, if they want to move up the ladder this season. Currently, the team is struggling on a three-game losing streak, the latest defeat coming against the Buffalo Bills in NFL Week 13. Next up, the 49ers are scheduled to take on the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
