“They idiots, man. They don’t want to win, man.”
Green Bay Packers receiver Christian Watson’s father, Tazim Wajid Wajed, has been...vocal on Twitter over the years for a lack of a better term. During the draft, he hosted an episode of his Hitman’s Haven Podcast, where he streamed the draft live on the website along with Watson’s brother, Tre Watson.
To say the least, they were not happy that the Green Bay Packers spent a first-round pick on the same position that their family member plays. If you want to watch their reaction to the selection, you can find it around the 2:56:00 mark in the video below.
Christian Watson’s brother apparently got the news before Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy announced the first-round pick, as Watson rushed to say, “These idiots, man,” before the selection. He followed it up with, “They don’t want to win, man.”
After sitting in silence for a pregnant pause following the selection of Texas receiver Matthew Golden, Wajid Wajed responded, “It is what it is. More power to the young man, but I’m going to tell you right now: They deserve whatever they get. They deserve whatever they get.”
As a reminder, Wajid Wajed stated that Watson, who is coming off of an ACL tear, is likely to be out for the first three months of the 2025 regular season. Watson is also going into a contract season, as he’s in the final year of his rookie contract.
Prior to Watson’s injury, he was the Packers’ primary speed receiver and man coverage beater, a role that Green Bay is hoping that Golden can now fill moving forward.
