The Cleveland Browns have just closed a chapter in their franchise’s history, with running back Nick Chubb officially now a member of the Houston Texans. Chubb has never seen action on the field in the NFL with another team outside of the Browns, but he’ll be making carries in a Texans uniform, beginning in the 2025 NFL season.
Chubb’s exit from the Browns has been an emotional one for the team and its fans. A widely beloved player in Cleveland, Chubb played his first seven years in the pros with the Browns, who selected him in the second round of the 2018 NFL draft.
A gruesome injury in 2023 put Chubb’s future not just with the Browns but in the NFL in jeopardy but against all odds, he found a way to return and play eight games in the 2024 campaign, rushing for 332 yards and three touchdowns on 102 carries.
Cleveland Browns’ Njoku reacts to team’s message for Chubb
Chubb will be greatly missed in Cleveland, given his body of work with the team. As cliche as it may sound, he truly gave it his all for the Browns.
“7 years of plays we will never forget,” Cleveland’s Instagram post about Chubb on Monday read.
Browns tight end David Njoku was among the many who reacted to the post, sharing a broken heart emoji as a comment.
Njoku and Chubb had built a good relationship while with the Browns. Njoku was drafted by Cleveland in 2017, a year before the Browns picked Chubb, who played college football with the Georgia Bulldogs. Together, Chubb and Njoku experienced the highs and lows of the Browns, which both will continue to cherish as they move on their separate ways.
