Cleveland Browns land offensive weapon in latest 2025 NFL mock draft

The Cleveland Browns offense has struggled the past few seasons, but it’s not for a lack of talent on the offense – particularly at the wide receiver position. So far in the 2024 season, Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson ranks outside the top 20 in passing yards, with just 335 yards passing and only one touchdown pass through two games. That’s despite having the likes of Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, and Elijah Moore at wide receiver and tight end David Njoku to throw to.

While it may be tempting for the Browns to take a quarterback in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft, the contract Watson is under makes it difficult for the Browns to move on from him under most circumstances. It’s more likely than not that the Browns are going to have to figure out their offensive woes with Watson taking snaps at the position. So how, then, can the Browns use the draft to help bolster their offense?

CBS Sports’ NFL Draft analyst Josh Edwards has the solution to that problem coming in the form of arguably the best wide receiver in the draft class, Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan. McMillan is a rare blend of height, weight, and speed coming in at 6’5” and 212 lbs, but moving like a receiver six inches shorter and 20 pounds lighter.

Edwards believes that McMillan would be a great option for the Browns to revamp their wide receiver corps, as Cooper is scheduled to hit free agency after the season. Edwards says “it would not be surprising to see Cleveland move forward with (Jerry) Jeudy, Jamari Thrash, and (Tetairoa) McMillan in this instance.”

Even if Cooper and the Browns don’t go their separate ways after the season, McMillan could give the Browns one of the best trios of receivers in the NFL when added to Cooper and Jeudy. If Watson can’t return to his Houston Texans form under those conditions, he may never turn in the kind of performance that saw the Browns give up a veritable treasure trove of picks to get him.
