The Cleveland Browns made seven picks in the 2025 NFL Draft and it was a surprising move that none of them were at the wide receiver position.

Cleveland made a move to sign Diontae Johnson as a free agent on Monday and he gives them a secondary option behind Jerry Jeudy and David Njoku for the offense.

Still, the Browns need to continue to add to the wide receiver room. Elijah Moore remains out there and the Browns have made a smart move with him already.

Cleveland Browns place unrestricted free agent tender on WR Elijah Moore

The Former Browns receiver visited the Buffalo Bills following the draft and Cleveland wasted no time placing the unrestricted free agent tender on Moore, according to ESPN’s Field Yates. It is a move you don’t often see used and it would likely Sears the Browns a compensatory draft pick in 2026 if he was to sign elsewhere.

Otherwise, the Browns can bring Moore back on a one-year deal worth $3.4 million. Cleveland bringing Moore back to be the third to fourth option along with Cedric Tillman would be ideal for Cleveland. This is figuring that Johnson can return to form and be a second receiver option to Jeudy.

Moore had 538 receiving yards and a touchdown in 2024 with the Browns. During the previous season, Moore had a career-high 640 receiving yards with Cleveland. At this point in his career, Moore is a solid route runner who can give you 400-600 yards as a strong third option.

Cleveland could soon be bringing Moore back, or gaining compensation for him leaving. After not drafting a wideout, the Browns would have made the moves they needed to fill out the room if Moore returns.
