The Washington Commanders secured a superb come-from-behind win over the Philadelphia Eagles, but head coach Dan Quinn wasn't entirely happy.
The Washington Commanders managed a morale-boosting 36-33 come-from-behind win over the Philadelphia Eagles at Northwest Stadium to get revenge for the Week 11 loss.
But it was far from a great performance.
While yes, Jayden Daniels' ability to orchestrate an 11-play, 57-yard touchdown drive to take the lead with just six seconds left in the fourth quarter was splendid. However, it wasn't all good.
Two Daniels interceptions, plus three fumbles, saw Washington win the game yet lose the turnover battle, which had head coach Dan Quinn feeling uneasy despite managing to pull out the win.
“The truth is collectively, we learned that we're never out of the fight,” Quinn said. “There were some crazy highs and crazy lows. We also learned we got a lot to improve upon. The turnover margin, that's the one that made my stomach hurt. To win with that kind of differential is hard, so a lot to level up on.”
After starting the game poorly with a turnover on downs and then a fumble, the Commanders found themselves behind 21-7 in the first quarter, but they dug in.
The defense only allowed 12 points for the rest of the game, and the offense clicked into gear in the fourth quarter, scoring 22 points to six and scoring touchdowns on three of their four drives.
So that aspect of the game was great for Washington, but you can't have five turnovers and expect to win a football game. The Commanders got lucky, and Quinn knows it.
Having punched their playoff ticket now at 10-5, the Commanders can look forward to bigger games moving forward, but turn the ball over as often as they did in the postseason, and Washington's year will come to an abrupt stop.
