One surprise attendee this year was former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who made a statement on the red carpet alongside his longtime girlfriend, Nessa Diab.
The couple, who began dating in 2015 and welcomed their first child in 2022, turned heads with their coordinated looks. Kaepernick wore a sleek maroon suit with black detailing, while Nessa stunned in a full-length black gown topped with a dramatic puffer-style jacket.

Colin Kaepernick led the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2013, but he hasn’t played a down of football since 2016. His absence from the league stems largely from the controversy surrounding his decision to kneel during the national anthem as a form of peaceful protest against social injustice in America.
While many supported his stance, others criticized it, and the polarizing attention surrounding the protest made NFL owners and organizations hesitant to sign him. Despite being out of the league for roughly nine years and now 37 years old, Kaepernick has remained vocal about his desire to return to the field.
Nessa Diab revealed that Kaepernick is still training every day, saying, “Nothing has changed.” She added, “It’s all up to the teams if they’ll let him play.”
