Commanders Add ‘Serious Damage’ Weapon In Latest Mock

The Washington Commanders will enter the 2025 season with vastly different expectations than they did a year ago - a 12-5 win season and an NFC Championship appearance will do that.

Commanders Add ‘Serious Damage’ Weapon In Latest Mock

The franchise was again aggressive in free agency, signing Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil, signalling its Super Bowl intent, and with the NFL Draft fast approaching, the Commanders, who pick at No. 29, could go a number of different ways.

For NFL.com's Charles Davis, in his latest mock draft, has the Commanders adding Ohio State Buckeye Emeka Egbuka.

"The WR room is undergoing quite the makeover in D.C.," Davis writes . "It started with the Deebo Samuel trade, and Egbuka will quickly show he’s someone QB Jayden Daniels can depend on."

With Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel as the No. 1 and No. 2 receivers, behind them, there isn't much "star" power with Noah Brown and Luke McCaffrey.

But with Egbuka, the Commanders' receiver floor is raised, and he would come into Kingsbury's offense and be a stud in the slot with his ball skills a feature.

Possessing technical route running, Egbuka could develop quite the rapport with Jayden Daniels and become a weapon early on with his ability to get downfield, while also keeping track of the ball, making him a solid deep threat option as well.

With McLaurin, Samuel, and Egbuka, the Commanders would have three receivers who can cause serious damage in a variety of ways, and that makes them tough to game plan for.

Yes, Washington has defensive needs, but getting more help around your young quarterback is also a good business move.
