The Washington Commanders already have one of the best wide receivers in the game in Terry McLaurin. They also acquired Deebo Samuel in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers that brings legitimacy to the team's passing offense.
There's a chance another top wideout could be on the way as well. One that not only is a former All-Pro, but could fundamentally change how the Commanders run their offense.
Stefon Diggs remains unsigned this offseason as he recovers from a torn ACL suffered in his first year with the Houston Texans. Before that, he could have laid claim to the title of best receiver in the game with the Buffalo Bills.
Now, the 31-year-old is looking for a new home.
And the Commanders are an excellent fit.
Not only does Washington possess plenty of cap space at this time, but a third receiver with the capabilities as Diggs would give the team true "Big 3" at the receiving core.
Few NFL teams in history have ever had a true "Big 3" out wide. There just simply aren't enough passes to go around and make people happy at that stage of the operation.
For that reason alone, the Commanders could look to move through the offseason without addressing the third wide receiver role. They could look internally with players on their current roster.
But the potential of having Diggs on the team is tantalizing.
If Washington could get him, and the rest of the receiving core to buy-in, they could put up numbers offensively not seen since the Super Bowl appearing team of 1983.
