Commanders Cutting Cornerback Predicted By NFL Analyst

Noah Igbinoghene was a special teams ace for the Washington Commanders, but may be on the outs moving forward.

The Washington Commanders have done their part to try to build a secondary that can compete with some of the top teams in their division.

With stars like A.J. Brown, CeeDee Lamb, and DeVonta Smith on the field, it's not a real surprise that the Commanders have come to this conclusion. With the latest additions, though, one of the quality special-teams stars and role players may be on the chopping block.

Noah Igbinoghene was a top special-teams player when he was with the Dallas Cowboys. On the Commanders, he became a quality starter for 10 games last season while helping improve Washington's pass defense.

His time with Washington may be coming to an end, though.

Pro Football Network suggested this weekend that the Commanders could move on from Igbinoghene with their recent draft selection of Ole Miss cornerback Trey Amos.

"The Washington Commanders only made five draft picks, with three of them going on offense. However, they did add Ole Miss cornerback Trey Amos in the second round. A feisty man cornerback, Amos mostly played on the perimeter in college and should slot in there opposite Marshon Lattimore. That would allow second-year pro Mike Sainristil to shift back into the slot, where he mostly played at Michigan," PFN wrote.

"Of course, that means veteran cornerback Noah Igbinoghene could get squeezed out of a job."

The NFL is a cruel business where even if you have a good year, you could end up getting replaced. That might be happening here with Igbinoghene going forward.

And it changes the entire roster that Washington built in their secondary.
