The Washington Commanders have already made a blockbuster trade to improve their wide receiver room this offseason. That didn't stop one NFL analyst from boldly claiming Adam Peters should make another significant swing for the fences before Week 1 rolls around.
Washington is right on the cusp of something special. Their renaissance was extraordinary in 2024. They captured the imagination of fans around the country, and galvanized a once downtrodden fan base to elation and beyond. It was incredibly positive, but matching these achievements next time around is more challenging.
The Commanders have put the pieces in place. Peters was more aggressive, making win-now moves to keep trending positively. There's also the small matter of maximizing quarterback Jayden Daniels' rookie contract before it gets much more expensive to retain their franchise player.
Commanders inexplicably linked with blockbuster trade for Tyreek Hill
Although the Commanders secured the services of Deebo Samuel Sr. via trade from the San Francisco 49ers this offseason, Douglas Fritz from Clutch Points thought Washington should try to lure Tyreek Hill from the Miami Dolphins if they decide against a move for All-Pro defensive end Trey Hendrickson. Something he believes could be enough to get them over the hump.
"[Tyreek] Hill would provide exactly what the Commanders need, and what opposing defenses don’t want to see. Whether Hill wants to be traded might be determined by which way the wind is blowing on a given day, but the Commanders need to try if they can’t get [Trey] Hendrickson. The Commanders are solid at wide receiver with Terry McLaurin, Deebo Samuel, Noah Brown, and Michael Gallup. But adding a third element like Hill to McLaurin and Samuel could put Washington over the top."

Hill is an outstanding, electrifying player. However, it's hard to see why this would be remotely considered by the front office.
The Commanders have a decent receiver room. Two of them — Terry McLaurin and Samuel — are on big money. Adding another highly-priced pass-catcher into the mix doesn't seem feasible, especially considering the draft compensation it would cost to acquire someone like Hill.
There are also major character concerns surrounding Hill. He doesn't look like a great fit within Washington's new culture shift under head coach Dan Quinn. The playmaking ability is unquestioned, but this just makes no sense from the Commanders' standpoint.
Hendrickson is a different story. He's an elite-level performer in a position of need. If the Commanders get a chance to acquire the edge rusher, they should seriously consider the possibility.
As for Hill? That's a non-starter, or at least it should be.
