The Washington Commanders have already begun their free agency business with a nice deal to bring Deebo Samuel to the nation's capital, but the franchise won't stop there.
Yes, Samuel helps out Terry McLaurin, but after that? It isn't scary for NFL defenses, but luckily, there is free agency and the draft to address this need.
Dyami Brown, Noah Brown, and Olamide Zaccheaus are the next receivers behind Deebo and Terry, and none of them are seen as long-term fixes at the position.
But in the upcoming draft, NFL.com's Charles Davis has the Commanders adding a serious weapon for Jayden Daniels in Texas flyer Matthew Golden.
"The Commanders' WR room could be undergoing a makeover with the trade bringing Deebo Samuel to DC being the first move," Davis writes. "Golden will be a tremendous addition playing alongside Samuel and Terry McLaurin."
Playing most of his college career out of the slot, Golden totaled 987 yards and nine touchdowns last season for Texas, and that kind of production would be welcome in Washington.
Golden's ability to burst off the line of scrimmage to create separation from his defender will make him a favourite weapon of Daniels on quick slants to keep the chains moving.
Having Golden, McLaurin, and Samuel as Jayden's three receivers, plus adding in veteran tight end Zach Ertz, suddenly gives the offense some serious firepower.
Given how Kliff Kingsbury likes his offense to run, getting Golden the ball out in space and letting him use his speed and agility to get yards after the catch is yet another wrinkle defenses will have to worry about... on top of McLaurin and Samuel.
Yes, there might be other needs, but if Golden is somehow there when the Commanders pick, it will be hard not to select him.
