Commanders' Jayden Daniels Has Chance to Tie Rookie Record Set by Ben Roethlisberger vs. Lions

The Washington Commanders have arguably the toughest task of the 2025 NFL Playoffs so far on the schedule with a trip to Detroit on tap for Saturday night at Ford Field.

Leading up to the game Commanders rookie Jayden Daniels was spotlighted for a rookie mark that is currently one win off of a pace set by Pittsburgh Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger among rookie quarterbacks.

The former Heisman Trophy winner and his teammates have a chance to make history against the Lions, if they can pull off the upset victory against one of the top offenses in NFL history on Saturday.

Heading into the game, Daniels has reeled off 13 wins in the regular season and playoffs combined.

That places him one win shy of the rookie record set by Roethlisberger in 2004 with the Steelers.

Daniels also has five fourth-quarter comebacks to his name and has become one of the most efficient players in the league with the game on the line.

The former LSU star has a 117.3 passer rating when tied or trailing by eight points or less in the fourth quarter, ranking number one among 233 quarterbacks with at least 50 attempts in that situation since 1991.

Daniels and the Commanders are 9.5-point underdogs heading into Saturday's game against Coach of the Year candidate Dan Campbell and the top-seeded Lions.
