The Washington Commanders dropped a pivotal NFC East matchup to the Philadelphia Eagles, falling 26-18 at Lincoln Financial Field. Washington’s offense showed flashes but ultimately couldn’t keep pace, as quarterback Jayden Daniels continues to work through the lingering effects of a rib injury sustained in Week 7 against Carolina.

Daniels finished the game, completing 22 of 32 passes for 191 yards, one touchdown, and an interception. He also added 18 rushing yards but fell short in key moments. With the Commanders down 12-10 late in the game, Daniels orchestrated a promising drive but came up short on fourth down at the Eagles’ 25-yard line.

Head coach Dan Quinn addressed the lingering concerns over Daniels’ health after the game.

“Early on he was [feeling discomfort]. Probably the first game back, then he started trending for sure better. I think it’s fair to say the first game after Carolina [Panthers]. That’s an injury that gets better,” Quinn explained. When asked directly if Daniels was still dealing with discomfort in this game.

“No.” Quinn responded before the reporter could finish the sentence.

Daniels’ statistical decline since the injury has been evident. Before Week 7, he was completing 75.3 percent of his passes with a 107.1 passer rating, averaging 8.5 yards per attempt and 53.6 rushing yards per game. Those numbers have since dipped to 59.5 percent, an 89.6 rating, and 27.5 rushing yards per game.

The Commanders now shift focus to their upcoming matchup against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12. In this crucial divisional showdown, the Commanders will be looking to get revenge on a Cowboys team that has had their number as of late and is struggling this season.
